Air de Lalique: A New Lalique Collection Presented in Baku

On April 23, Fluxus Space hosted a presentation of a new collection of decorative objects by the French House Lalique. The event was organized by the brand together with Italdizain, Lalique's official distributor in Azerbaijan.

Air de Lalique was presented in Baku as a collection in which Lalique turns to one of the most elusive themes to capture in art: air. It cannot be fixed literally, yet it can be conveyed through form, light, the movement of fabric and the expressive possibilities of crystal.

The presentation took place on April 23 at Fluxus Space. The evening was conceived not as a conventional showcase, but as a complete visual environment in which every element served the idea of the collection. Translucent fabrics, drapery, lighting accents and spatial details created a sense of air in motion, not through direct decoration, but through suggestion, rhythm and shifting textures. The soundscape and aromatic compositions extended this narrative, linking it to flight, open space and creative impulse.

From the entrance, guests encountered Lalique sketches displayed on the walls of the venue. They set the artistic context for the presentation and shifted attention from the finished object to the act of its creation: the line, the idea, the movement of the hand. The evening also included a performance by a dancer with flowing fabrics, while signature cocktails continued the theme of the air element.

The main visual accent of the first hall was a round draped table presenting key pieces from Air de Lalique. In the second hall, Lalique vases were shown with floral compositions. A guest calligrapher also worked there, creating inscriptions for guests on paper fans produced in the palette of the collection.

Air de Lalique: Air as an Artistic Image

In 2026, Lalique continues its exploration of natural elements and turns to air, an element that exists in movement, in changing light and in the almost imperceptible shift of form. In Air de Lalique, this idea is translated into the language of crystal through transparency, relief, draped lines and the interaction between surface and light.

The collection continues Lalique's long-standing dialogue with nature, but without quoting it literally. Here, air is not a backdrop, but a fully formed artistic image. Its presence can be read in the sculptural language of the objects, in the sense of motion and in the way crystal responds to light.

The palette of the collection is built on clear crystal, coral patina and rose gold leaf, applied by hand. These shades refer to the changing light of sunset and to the moment when air becomes almost visible through colour, glint and reflection.

Key Pieces of the Collection

Alizé Vases

The sculptural lines of the Alizé vases refer to pleating and drapery in haute couture. The relief of the surface creates a sense of movement: the form seems to shift under the influence of wind. Versions with gold leaf are presented in several sizes, from small decorative objects to larger interior accents.

Alizé Bowl

The open form of the Alizé bowl continues the same sculptural motif. Three crystal supports visually lift the piece, giving it a sense of light upward movement. As light passes through the curves of the crystal, it emphasises the rhythm of the surface and turns the object into an independent focal point of the composition.

Piou-Piou

The Piou-Piou figurines refer to the image of a bird, one of the clearest symbols of air and flight. Their silhouettes are reduced to a few precise lines: the curve of the body, the wing, the beak, the posture. Within this restraint, character, movement and a sense of freedom remain.

All Air de Lalique pieces were designed by Marc Larminaux, Artistic and Creative Director of Lalique, in collaboration with Lalique Creative Studio. The collection continues a dialogue with the legacy of René Lalique and shows how a natural motif can be reinterpreted in contemporary object design.

Air de Lalique is a collection about movement, light and the ability of crystal to convey what usually remains invisible. Here, air becomes material for an artistic statement, and each object forms part of a broader story about nature, craft and form.
